Message from our Founders

“And the people all tried to touch him, because power was coming from him and healing them all”. Luke 6: 19
After Jesus had made many pastoral visits in the communities where he healed many of their disease and taught the law and word of the Lord amongst the Pharisees, he resigned himself into prayer. After he had prayed, he called his disciples and designated 12 of them as apostles. He set them up for mission; to preach, to heal and to love the world. He set himself out into the world that had evidence of his healing power amidst the disease and wreckage of the world. The world had evidence that he had power over the law of the Pharisees, over disease and sin. They followed him, each yearning for a chance to partake of the many miracles he was dishing out; each one and every one burdened with their own load of care. In Luke 6:19, His presence was enough to heal. It didn’t heal some of them but all of them. They were all trying to get their share of healing.
Jane and I, just like many of the people of the world, have lost a couple of friends and family in the past year as a result of the Corona virus. If Jesus was physically present in the world today and performing miracles like he did in his ministry on Earth, the cries of the world to touch him for healing would have undoubtedly spiraled in the last year of 2020. He would take no pleasure in social distancing, he would avail himself to be touched and to heal the world. The people would fight to touch him and his power would heal them all.
While we went through the year 2020, I was reminded daily of God’s power to Heal and his ever present help. In the midst of the pandemic, Jesus opened our eyes to the social pandemics in our community that needed his disciples (the Kitega Community Centre) to minister. The center started the tuwone Project as the theme of its community activities amidst the pandemic; to sensitize the masses on how to avoid catching the disease but also to heal the community of the social pandemics that arose as a result of the Covid Pandemic. The Lord has provided resources for Public interest Litigation, Child Protection Programs, Legal Aid, Sensitisation and other activities. Through the Tuwone project, the Lord is healing us all in many ways.
We are grateful to our Patrons for their consistent support and prayer and warmly welcome Isaac who has joined the body of Patrons.
Nicky and Jane King are the “forefathers” of the Kitega Community Centre. We thank them for allowing to carry the Centre on their shoulders for a long while and being Patrons thereof for two decades. We pray for God’s strength and sustenance as you continue to pray and encourage.
Whereas I could, space and time do not allow me to thank everyone who has contributed tremendously to the sustenance of the Kitega Community. I pray that you will be greatly rewarded and find your healing and blessing.
The following pages are brief reports of our ministry in a very challenging year. I hope you will take the pleasure in reading this report and provide counsel, prayer and feedback as you may deem fit.
Blessings
Silas and Jane
