ABOUT US
WHO WE ARE
The Kitega Centre, is located in Kawolo – Lugazi, Buikwe District, about 40km from Kampala, the capital of Uganda.
The Kitega Community Centre is an Independent Christian organisation in Uganda that was initiated by Rev. Canon Silas Musoke, with the help of the Kingserve Trust in Scotland. From 1999 to 2004 the Centre was under the umbrella of the National Association for the Mentally Handicapped and registered as an independent NGO in March 2004.
The Centre is interdenominational and serves all people without prejudice.
Kitega community Centre serves children with disabilities who were rejected and regarded as outcasts in their families and communities. This has been achieved through advocacy and support for independent living.
An inclusive community development approach is used as the bedrock to attitudinal change towards children and people with disabilities. Today many people look at them as people created in the image of God, and a blessing to their families and community.
