Greetings from the  Kitega Centre family

Shamim and Susan say:

“thank you so much for the love, care, friendship you have shown us for the last 20 years, you are all blessed to be a blessing to many like us in the whole world”  Shamim.

“for the last 20 years we have learnt a lot of things from the Centre with the help and support from our own teachers, volunteers and supportive staff thank you so much! for the effort to ensure that we are also heard in the community. ” Susan.

20 YEARS Celebration Updates

Hundreds joined us in the band match which covered almost 3km from Lugazi town. 

 

We allthose who took part in the celebrations from all over of the world. It excitement seeing the entire community sharing, interacting and having the best of the day together. Indeed, it was worth celebrating; “Ebenezer, Ebenezer, Ebenezer was the song on everyone’s lips.

Celebrations are on till the end of this year, we are all welcomed to join us at the Centre and share the great Kitega stories.

               

The sign language students were not left out too, they were able to make a presentation using sign language.

The children  displayed some of the skills obtained from vocational training provided to them  at the Centre, in addition many parents have volunteered to support and train the Centre children with different skills these include: bakery, tailoring and hand craft art.

The all Kitega family took a day off and had a trip to Uganda wild life conservation Centre  and thereafter to the country resort in Entebbe.

A very interesting experience for most of the team members, some were visiting Entebbe and the conservation Centre for the first time.

UMOJA HOUSE

The foundation for the UMOJA House is underway, over 150 bags of cements was fundraised on the celebration day were many individuals willingly donated towards UMOJA house project. Once complete, the house will provide more community space at the centre.

Community development programme

Tusisimuke

Functional Adult Literary (FAL)

We managed to gradate over 52 students in FAL, a program that has been running for the last two years in in different communities, success stories were shared during the celebration. FAL has created different opportunities.

Prison Ministry

We are happy the prison ministry is moving on well and inmates from different prisons joined us in the 20 years’ celebration as well from their location. Many inmates are benefiting from the Malachi Dads and the Hannah’s gift initiative.

Legal Aid

The Centre  will be offering legal services to the members and the community in general, the offices were commissioned and very soon will start operating. Thank you so much for those who made sure this happens to extend the services to our people in the communities.

Youth Ministry

The youth celebrated 20 years by hosting a friendly football match with the youth of Kitega Community.

    

The match ended  2:2, the spirit of togetherness and love towards children and adults with disabilities, the message was about disability rights which was passed on before the kickoff.

 

Vicoba

Annual Vicoba camp meeting and celebrating 20 years of Kitega

            

The VICOBA camp is an annual event that brings VICOBA members together for fellowship, learning and sharing, mentorship and above all an opportunity to network and continue building community.

Several workshops and activities were organised during the camp that climaxed with the Centre celebrations.

Blessed to be a blessing to many, one of our own Vicoba members by names of Matida was blessed by a family member of Kitega Community Centre and constructed for her a dream come true house in Katungulu village, one of a few finished painted house in the all community.

A dream come true for Matilda – a  new house for Matilda:

We were glad top celebrate with Matilda as she officially dedicate her new house. This is now called the VICOBA House in Katungulu.

 

 

 

The VICOBA maize mill:

We will soon be enjoying maize flour produced and packaged by VICOBA maize millers; we are glad to see the mill coming up. the electricity has already been connected on site.

      

 

Volunteers at the Centre

The centre continues to host several local and international volunteers, at the end of July we received a team from Spain has partnered with the centre in several tasks.
