A Journey of Cooking, Learning, and Dignity

The Kitega Community Centre is alive with new aromas and friendships as Manuel, a seasoned international chef from Spain, volunteers alongside his father for several weeks in Uganda.
Having cooked in some of the world’s top kitchens from Spain, New York etc, Manuel has chosen to spend this season sharing his passion with the Kitega family. Together with his father, they are working with VICOBAPlus groups and vocational trainees, introducing international dishes while also learning traditional Ugandan recipes.
Side by side with community members, they cook, laugh, and exchange stories, turning every shared meal into a celebration of culture, dignity, and togetherness. Their presence reminds everyone that volunteering is not only about giving but about sharing life across borders.
As their visit continues over the next two weeks, the Kitega community continues to appreciate not just the food, but the friendship, learning, and inspiration that come with it.
