November newsletter updates.

Greetings from all of us at Kitega Centre Uganda, a few updates from the Centre as we come to the end of 2019,for the past weeks we had a lot of volunteers both national and international, visitors and well-wishers too, who got involved in a number of activities at the Community Centre.

Children Ministry

The children continue to register remarkable progress in different areas of studies, class work and vocational training.

The children continue to learn and develop holistically, mainly socializing skills while Diana, kamiat and the two boys are good friends and they enjoy learning together.

A team of students from home stone secondary school scripture union members paid a visit to the Centre and shared a good moments with the children, which included Bible reading and stories.

The Centre is always open and welcoming everyone to interact and socialize with the children.


Deaf Christmas party


Deaf development foundation in partnership with Kitega community Centre are organizing the deaf Christmas party at the national theater on the 16th of December

Sign language: It is now two years since we started offering professional sign language education to the deaf students. Robert, Brian are doing well and also help the two young ones communicate using basic sign language, the children and teachers have also participated in the classes. We are thankful to our supporters that are making this possible for the children to learn.

The Centre has always been a place where both children and volunteers find a lot of freedom and call it home, it is so amazing seeing Fidalgo enjoying the company of Odongo and Hadijah on the jack fruit tree.

Sandra, Eli and Robert also shared a lot of good moments at the Centre.

Young youth football team

A football match was organized with the community team which aimed at creating disability awareness among the young community children, the game ended 2:2 with Robert and Brian on the score sheet. We are so thankful for the jersey.


Functional adult literacy (FAL)

Has we are going to the end of the first session of study; setting of examinations is in process over nine FAL with get involved in the examination exercise.

Prison Ministry.

Lifeline prison ministry program.

A team of local volunteers from the Centre attended a three days conference in Rwanda, “it was so exciting meeting Daniel and sharing a lot of experience in prison ministry program in Uganda for the past one year”. Says James.

The conference was comprised with a numbers of international prison ministries volunteers from different counties.

Prison ministry will be celebrating one full year of life line program in five different prison in the communities before the end of this year.

VICOBA Ministry.

Bumu VICOBA members were so excited, sharing their transformation stories with Elisabeth.

Elisabeth will be coming back next year mainly to work with groups of women in Kitega and the surrounding communities.

Volunteers at the Centre

We have been blessed with several volunteers in the last months from Spain. They have served and their contribution is evident. Serving at the Centre has always been a learning experience for the Centre and the volunteers.

We are excited for the next volunteers that will join the Centre in the coming month of February 2020.

Sandra and family are to spend three weeks at the Centre mainly working to advance the agricultural support initiative from friends in Spain and also spent time with the children.

Community outreach by the volunteers

The team got involved in an interview activity with the farmers in Kasokoso and Makindu communities, the information collected will be of great help mainly to improve on pests and better methods of farming.

Farewell and awarding of certificates to a group of community counselors who got involved in a twelve weeks counseling session at the Centre.

Linda Hooper was here at the Centre for a period of one year, it was her third time at the Kitega Centre and she got involved so much during her stay,equipping community counselors with skills and also supporting the children with disabilities at the Centre.

Thankful for the efforts, work, and lives influenced at the Centre and the general communities.

New development

Ground breaking ceremony of a community medical Centre, we are so much thankful for the new development in Katungulu community.  “Ebeneezer”.

The elephant is a sign of hope, over the years the Centre has restored hope among many people in the communities.
