Tusisimuke – Church and Community Mobilisation
Kitega Community Centre’s Tusisimuke (the Church and Community Mobilisation for Holistic Development programme), was launched in six communities in March 2017. Following the Church envisioning, local disciples were equiped with skills to facilitate Holistic development in their local churches. The six churches have now started their local church projects, it is exciting to see the projects started using locally available resources.
In Kintabuli, the local church has chosen to rebuild a school that will provide education to several undeserved children in the community.
The Kakubansiri community has chosen to start up a water project, and hopes to use the funds raised from the water project to reach out to the elderly and those in need
The Church and Community Mobilisation process uses scriptures from the bible and encourages the local church to actively engage in addressing the needs that are in the local community, Integral mission.
The church leaders in the communities served feel that the program has greatly helped them to evaluate their ministries; “there is so much we have not been doing , this program has opened our eyes and God is speaking to us…”
One congregant who had given up attending church was recently excited to attend a church envisioning session, she has now returned to church and she feels confident about her role as a Christian.
These are just some of the several stories that have been shared by communities that are participating in the Church and community Mobilization for Holistic development.
The local church is now concentrating on learning and understanding its community as the starting point before they think about addressing some of the needs in the community. The churches have partnered with their respective communities to come up with information Gathering teams that a currently researching and doing baselines that will facilitate decision making before any action is taken.
